Top 10 skincare mistakes that can be easily avoided!

Many assume that expensive products are the only way to tackle your skincare problems, but in fact there are a few simple things you could do or that can make a massive difference to your skin.

Removing your makeup
This one may seem so obvious, but we've all had those evenings where we've collapsed on to the bed and passed out, and not given a second thought about cleansing or nourishing your skin and allowing it the chance to breathe. Removing your make up, before the night especially, will avoid clogged pores and extra bacteria harvesting in your skin. A fresh face before bed equals a better beauty sleep, for you and your skin!

Touching your face
Again, we all do it. We notice a blemish or blackhead and poke and prod at it all day, effectively spreading the bacteria and rubbing our oily, greasy hands all over our face!

Not using makeup applicators
Similarly, not using a sponge or brush to apply our makeup can spread the oily residue from our hands onto our face. Use a brush or a hand wash in order to prevent this.

Clean those brushes
Cleaning your makeup brushes/applicators regularly will help avoid spreading bacteria or dirt and keep the brushes from looking nasty too! It's a win win!

Skin care routine
Having a balanced and consistent skin care routine will do wonders for your skin! Be sure to do some research or get help from a skincare consultant to tailor your routine to your skin type for the best results!

Using the wrong products
You're skincare routine should be personal to you and your skin, not tailored to price or what everyone else is using! Don't be afraid to mix and match products or change something if it's not working for you!

Over exfoliating
Using a facial scrub or exfoliator to remove dead skin is good, but in moderation. Exfoliating too often can chip away at the protective layers of the skin, leaving it exposed to damage and bacteria.

Over washing
I will never recommend using soap and water or any shower gel on your face. In fact, I will do my best to ensure that people avoid doing this at all costs. Leaving water on the skin actually messes with the balance of your skin and leaves it feeling dry. This is the same with bar/body soaps or fragranced shower gels. Anything with fragrance or soap that isn't specifically for the face will dry the skin. Those with a sensitive skin type especially, beware of body care on the face!

Beauty sleep
Honestly, who doesn't love sleeping? I love preparing for sleep, the nighttime cleansing routing, getting into a onesie with a cup of tea. I love waking up, feeling refreshed and ready for a brand new day. You're skin loves sleep too! Having no makeup product on your face at night allows room for your skin to breathe. Lack of sleep can leave you with tired looking skin and dark circles. If you willing to ditch the late nights, your skin will thank you for it.

Impatience
Of course we want our skin to show an obvious and instant improvement when we invest in a new and/or expensive treatment, but this isn't always the way it works. Sometimes consistency and patience is key, and letting your skin adapt to a new regime is often very rewarding. Don't give up, it'll be worth the time and effort when your skin glows with radiance!
